Reconditioned & redesigned steering idler unit for DB2 to DB MkIII with different style bearings & shaft to original  (Design © Four Ashes Garage Ltd 2012)

This means no free play / movement in the shaft / spindle, this in turn means reduced play in the steering, we have fitted or supplied over 50 of these now.

For some while now we had been experiencing difficulties in getting the original type of needle roller bearing, AML part no. 113421 or NA 2015 (the old style with thrust faces), the shear cost of these & a new shaft then setting them up was becoming a nuisance, we have come up with this cost effective solution (compared to buying a new shaft, original style bearings, seal, etc & still having play !)

We now supply an original steering idler casting in exchange for your own unit (inc very early DB2 or DB1 with extra hole in casting) or recondition your own, all units are vapour blasted to 'as new' condition, then fitted with some different bearings (from the o/d type) on a re-designed new shaft, the bearings are fitted to a predetermined setting to ensure maximum reliability with no play or end float, the unit is prelubed & ready to fit, the unit requires a small amount of sealant on its face when fitting to the cross tube.

The completed unit looks visually identical to the original unit but is more reliable, the only thing we ask of you is make sure that the Alloy Cross tube / axle unit is kept at the correct oil level & filled with EP90 oil,  not engine oil or grease & has no oil leaks, we sell the correct type / size of end seal for the cross tube.

Note: Exchange only - castings must be in good order, however we do have a good stock so let us see the casting 1st, there are also visually different castings.

Note: We don't supply parts for this unit on a DIY basis, we will only supply reconditioned units or recondition your own unit, this is to maintain our high quality standards.

Tested for  9000 miles on rough European roads, now tested in races, rallies & roads etc all over Europe.
