Type 1:  Fuel tank gauge sender unit strengthening / reinforcing plate, helps stop distortion of the face of the earlier alloy tank senders. Top photo.

Type 2: We recently had some DB5 DHC tank sender units (from AML !) with the mounting plates made of plastic, these distorted badly & were difficult to seal, we now supply this ring for the plastic senders. Bottom photo.
